Li’l Farmers Farm school
About Our Programs
We offer parent-participation classes for children aged 0-7 that run between March-December, rain or shine. Our classes are structured into two-month Semesters that follow the seasonal ebb and flow of the Farm, and curriculum is thoughtfully curated around such. This provides your child with the unique opportunity to witness the cycles of growth, and inter-relationships of plants and animals on the farm.
L’il Farmers students will become familiar with our chickens, rooster, lambs, and alpacas, while also spending ample time digging in our garden beds and exploring our biodiverse food forest. We encourage parents and children to come dressed for the elements; however, we do have a warming area. Classes will be cancelled under extreme weather circumstances.
LI’l FARMERS SEASONAL SEMESTERS
Each Semester spans two months. Some semesters are 8 weeks; others are 6 weeks. All Li’l Farmer’s curriculum is seasonal and centers around what’s happening at Collinmore Farms.
Every class will focus on a seasonal activity on the farm; integrating books, songs, and sometimes crafts that help reinforce the day’s lesson. All classes within a Semester will follow a similar structure, but the theme of each day will vary. Both the Li’l Farmers Seedling (2-5 yrs) and Sprouts (5-7 yrs) programs require a full semester commitment (6 or 8 weeks).
-
8 Weeks
All activities are based upon preparing for new life on the farm! This entails prepping the garden and keeping a watchful eye on Mama sheep ready to lamb and baby chicks ready to hatch.
-
8 Weeks
All activities are based upon planting, caring for plants during the growing season, and tending to the animals in order to promote health and abundance. Children will be encouraged to experience the natural beauty of Spring.
-
6 Weeks
This curriculum will revolve around farm life in full bloom. Kids will use fruits and vegetables for hands on experiences, while learning how to take care of animals in the heat of the Summer. This session will be shorter and will only run in the mornings to avoid the heat.
-
8 Weeks
We base our activities around the harvest; Harvest songs, play, harvesting in our gardens, harvest artwork, and extended activities.
-
6 Weeks
Session is based upon preparing fields, animals, and the Farm for a long Winter’s nap; but also preparing for the Holidays. Here at Collinmore Farms we celebrate Christmas and our play, crafts, and activities reflect this.
January – February: No sessions
